In the former Gamtel boss trial Defence to open case

Friday, October 26, 2007

In the ongoing criminal case involving Mr Omar Ndow, former Managing Director (MD) of the Gambia Telecommunications Company Ltd (Gamtel), Defence Counsel Sheriff Tambedou, is expected to open his case on the next adjourned date, October 31, 2007.

This development followed the prosecution’s closure of its case. Coporal Touray, who deputised for ASP Bojang, the Prosecuting Officer in the case, informed the court that, ASP Bojang could not come to court, due to other pressing issues. However, he asked me to inform the court that he had closed his case on the matter.

Sheriff Tambedou, Counsel for the accused person, Omar Ndow,   applied for a short adjournment so as to enable him to decide whether to open the defence or not.

Magistrate BY Camara of the Banjul Magistrates’ Court subsequently adjourned the case to 31st October, 2007, for continuation.
