Press Release

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

The Office of the President has received letters from some individuals and businesses seeking approval to import cement into the country.

This Office would like to make it abundantly clear to the Business Community that no business entity, be they individuals or companies, require the approval of this Office before now, or in the future, to import cement or any basic commodity.

Any individual or group that wants to import and sell quality cement, rice, fertilisers and other commodities in The Gambia, is free to do so. A free market enterprise that promotes healthy competition in the market is a fundamental moment of The Gambia’s Vision 2020.
