As Dr. Malick Njie Takes Over

According to a press release from the office of the president, Dr. Tamsir Mbowe, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Welfare, has been relieved from duties with effect from last Friday.

Dr. Mbowe is said to be replaced by the Director of Health Services, Dr. Malick Njie, otherwise known by his sobriquet, Pacharr. No official reason(s) has yet been advanced for Dr. Mbowe’s sacking.

However, according to informed sources, Dr. Mbowe’s sacking is on account of a matter concerning a consignment of rice reportedly imported into the country by a certain businessman. The consignment of rice, according to our sources, was rated by heath personnel as unfit for human consumption. But Dr. Mbowe allegedly tried to give backing in his capacity to put the said rice on the market.

Dr. Malick Njie, a retired Army Major, has served on various capacities within the health sector, which include Chief Medical Director RVTH and Director of Health Services, a position he assumed barely two weeks before his new appointment.
