Mr. Malang Saibou Camara, the former Chairman of Janjanbureh Area Council in the Central River Region (CRR), recently handed over the Chairmanship of the council to Governor Ganyie Touray of CRR. The handing over follows the dissolution of local councils by the president now empowered by the amendment of the Local Government Act to do so 90 days before election.
In his handing over address delivered at the Janjanbureh Area Council grounds on Thursday, the outgoing Chairman of Janjanbureh Area Council said that since he assumed office in April 2002, the council has provided series of projects to the communities in his area. He thanked the people for the co-operation and support they have provided him during the period.
Governor Touray heads a seven-member Interim committee. The other members are: Alh. Kebba Kora, Demba Bah, John Bah, Foday Saidykhan, Amie Jobarteh, Yusupha Gassama and Chief of Lower Fulladu, Momodou Lamin Baldeh.
Meanwhile Governor Touray doubles as the Interim Chairperson of Kuntaur Area Council, also in CRR, whose members include Mr. Seedy Bensuda, Adam Cham, Momodou Lamin Jallow, Emily Nying, Alh Ebou and Sefo Pierre Bah.
