Wednesday, November 21, 2007

In yet another flurry of appointments, President Yahya Jammeh is reported to have recently appointed Mrs. Fatou Sinyan Mberrgan, Director of Finance of Julbrew, as Gambia’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, a post only just seeing earnest executive appointment since the departure of Pa Jallow, former NIA Director-General. The move also saw the appointments of Mr. Mamour Jagne, an economist at the UNDP, as Gambia’s Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU); Dr. Omar Touray, the then Gambian Ambassador to Ethiopia and A.U, as representative of The Gambia at the United Nations (UN) in New York, replacing Tamsir Jallow, now Gambia’s Ambassador to the U.S.A; Mr. Sarjo Jallow, former Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, as Gambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia and the A.U; Mrs. Gass Jaiteh-Njie of KGI company, as Gambian High Commissioner to Zambia.

In a related development Mr. Mot Secka, who was the deputy P.S. at the Department of State for Finance, has been promoted to the post of P.S. Finance, replacing Abdoulie Touray, who was removed last month.

Furthermore, Mr. Yusupha Dibba, who was P.S. at Personnel Management Office (PMO), has now been redeployed to M.D.I as the new boss. He replaces Mrs. Juka Jabang who is currently employed by the African Development Bank in Tunisia, my sources concluded.
