GFA meets sports department

The Gambia Football Association, under the stewardship of Seedy Kinteh, yesterday, paid a courtesy call on their old colleague and now secretary of state for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mass Axi Gai, at his office in Banjul.
The purpose of the football association’s visit, Observer Sports has gathered, was to discuss with the Department of State for Youth & Sports, pertinent issues relating to football promotion and development in the country.

Prominent among the topics discussed during the meeting were the upcoming Zone II championship in Guinea Bissau and the Scorpions’ future international matches in 2008. To the delight of the football association, the sports department pledged its full backing to ensure the successful participation of the Scorpions in 2008 international competitions.

The outstanding match bonuses owed to players of the National Under 20 team were also approved by the Department of State for Youth and Sports, with the payment set to be effected soon.

GFA President Seedy Kinteh promised the football association’s incessant support and collaboration with the sports department in the promotion and development of Gambian football.

Present at yesterday’s meeting were SoS Axi Gai and his Permanent and Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Ebou Joof and Mambajicky Njie, respectively, GFA President, Seedy Kinteh, Abdou Salaam Jammeh, GFA programme officer, and Joe Sambou, GFA liaison officer, among others.
