It seems the long-standing ownership tussle over the Gambian international midfielder, Ebrima Sohna, has come to a dramatic end.
Both Steve Biko and Wallidan have been claiming the ownership of the former Under 20 ace since he signed a professional contract with the Norwegian First Division outfit, Standerford last season.
Impeccable sources have informed Observer Sports that the national football governing, who had launched an investigating into the matter for a time now, has finally ruled in favour of the Banjul club, Wallidan.
Despite the football association president’s denial that a final decision was made after their executive meeting last week, insiders at both clubs have hinted to Observer Sports that a final decision has been made, though they (the clubs) are yet to receive a formal letter to that effect.
“The football association has made its final verdict on the case, relying on the task force committee’s findings. And its decision is that ‘Wallidan own the player’, though we are yet to receive a formal correspondence from them (the football association). Maybe they don’t want to put the cart before horse by informing the press before the clubs concerned,” sources told Observer Sports.
GFA President, Seedy Kinteh, had earlier on confirmed the meeting of his executive committee over the matter last week, but was quick to add that no final verdict has been reached.
“We met over the weekend and very soon we will write to the clubs concerned, informing them of our decision. A player cannot be owned by two clubs at the same time, but this is rather a delicate and complicated case, that involves money and care must be taken when dealing with such matters,” Kinteh was quoted as saying.
