Sidia Jatta Urges Govt. to Take New Economic Approach

Monday, December 10, 2007

In what appears to be yet another admonition to the ruling Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC) party, Hon. Sidia Jatta, National Assembly Member for Wuli West Constituency and a bigwig in the opposition National Alliance for Democracy and Development, has urged the government of the day to take a new economic approach towards road construction in the country.

Hon. Sidia Jatta made this call at the National Assembly on Wednesday, 5th December, while contributing to the motion for the ratification of a loan agreement amounting to US $7.705 million between the Islamic Development Bank and the government of The Gambia for the construction of the West Field-Sukuta road project.

According to the NADD executive member, good roads are indispensable to development, “but it is better to build very expensive roads than to have roads that will not serve long due to their poor state of construction.”
