The civil suit filed against the Medical Research Council by two of its apparently aggrieved staff has taken on yet another dimension as the case would now be handled by Justice Yamoa of the Banjul High Court.
Modou Jarju and Alieu Faal are labouring for justice following their dissatisfaction over the manner with which their services were terminated by MRC. The duo is seeking a court injunction for restitution of monies allegedly incurred by the research council for terminating their services in a wrongful fashion. The act was said to be in contravention of the Labour Act.
The case was heard by three justices of the high court and is now expected to be mentioned before Justice Yamoa of the Banjul High Court on 22 January 2007.
Before parting company with the MRC, Jarju was the vice-chairman of MRC Credit Union whilst Mr. Faal was the chief steward.
