The Gambia Methodist Laymen’s Association (GMLA) on Sunday February 25, celebrated its 22nd year anniversary with a thanks-giving service, at a ceremony held at the Wesley Church in Banjul.
In his opening remarks, Ernest Aubee, President of GMLA said the association was inaugurated on February 14, 1985, aimed at complementing the good works of Methodist Mission.
He said the association’s programme of activities centred on health, education, social responsibility etc, all of which were successfully implemented. However, he went on to say that the association still faces challenges in terms of funding, urging members to be committed so as to overcome the problems.
He then appealed to men, especially the younger ones to join the association.
For his part, the Chairman of Methodist Mission, Rev Norman Grigg, thanked the (GMLA) for their unflinching support and assistance to the Methodist Mission.
The occasion ended with Christian religious songs and awarding of certificates to deseving members of the association.
