Taiwanese delegation wraps up visit

The six-man delegation of Taiwanese officials and construction engineers, on Thursday ended a five-day working visit in the country.

The delegation arrived in the country on Sunday, to consolidate efforts to resurface the Banjul/ Serrekunda highway, Bond Road, and Kairaba Avenue. Members of the delegation from the Science Park Administration of Taiwan, conducted survey for the establishment of a similar structure in the country.

Commenting on the visit, Dr Patrick Chang, Taiwanese Ambassador to The Gambia, said the delegation met the officials of the Department of State for Communications, and Information Technology, the Department of State for Higher Education and Research, and the Department of State for Fisheries.

Dr Chang added that the officials also convened meetings with the members of the Special Task Force on the Vision 2020 Silicon Valley and the Gambia Investment Promotion and Free Zone Agency.

Ambassador Chang indicated that the delegation also visited the Bond Road, Serrekunda/Banjul highway and Kairaba Avenue.

The Taiwanese delegation is expected to prepare and submit a blue print for the establishment of a science park in the country.
