Scorpions start arrival

The Scorpions camp in Banjul, ahead of Gambia’s Nation’s Cup qualifier match against Guinea on Saturday, March 24, is expected to have a full house by Tuesday, March 20, as some of the top invited players already arrived in the country last night.

The Belgian based players, Assan Jatta and his team-mate Mustapha Jarju have led the way by arriving in country last night. The Finish based-player Dawda Bah, Musa Bajaha, Lamin Conateh and Azziz Corr Nyan are also reported to have arrived yesterday.

The other batch of players including Edrissa Sonko, Jatto Ceesay and others are also said to be ready to be in camp by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Observer Sports has reliably learnt that Ports Authority head coach, Alhagi Sarr will step in for out-of-favour German coach Antoine Hey in Saturday’s crucial encounter. Coach Sarr will be assisted by Lamin Sarr and the Egyptian coach Tarik.

Gambia, who beat Cape Verde 2-0 in Banjul before losing 1-0 to Algeria in their second match, currently lie second in Group H table on three points-only a point adrift of Group leaders, Algeria. Cape Verde is close on Gambia’s heels on the same points, but with a goal deficit. Guinea is at bottom table on one point from their two matches.
