Dr Banabas Lee, proprietor of Heart of Medical Mission in the United States and a special friend of His Excellency President Dr. Alhaji Yahya AJJ Jammeh yesterday called on Dr Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy, Vice President and Secretary of State for Women Affairs at her office at State House, Banjul.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Lee told the Vice President that he is on a follow up visit to see the progress of his clinic which is under construction at Bijilo.
According to Dr Lee, 80 per cent of the construction of the clinic has been completed noting that the roofing and other things are left for the completion of the clinic construction.
He described The Gambia as his second home and prayed for President Jammeh’s long life, good health and prosperity.
For her part, Vice President Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy, described Dr Lee as a true and genuine friend of The Gambia, describing him as very kind and resourceful to this nation.
“I saw the good work that Dr. Lee and his people are doing in The Gambia when I watched the video clip during one of my visits to the United States,” she said.
VP Njie then commended Dr. Lee for the construction of a Clinic in Bijilo, adding that vision 2020 cannot be realised in the absence of good health. She expressed appreciation of the good work and prayed for their good health and prosperity.
Sheikh Omar Faye, Secretary of State for Youths, Sports and Religious Affairs also expressed similar sentiments and described Dr Lee as a genuine friend of The Gambia.
In another development, Vice President Njie-Saidy also received in audience, the Spanish delegation headed by Mr. Arturo Avello Diez Del Corral, Director General for International Affairs and Migrations in Madrid, to discuss issues of legal migration among others.
Speaking to journalist shortly after their audience with the Vice President Njie-Saidy, Mr. Corral said their discussion was centered on the promotion of legal migration, adding that Spain has coherent approach to migration. He revealed that their visit was to put into reality, things that The Gambia government proposed to the Spanish government.
Mr Corral then promised to help in the development of the Gambia and help the youths of this country.
Mr Corral was accompanied to State House by Javier Gasso, Deputy Director for Sub-Saharan Africa issues, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation in Madrid, Jose Lopez Chicheri, Deputy Director for Police International Cooperation, and Home Office in Madrid amongst others.
