Malaria declines at Bansang Hospital....says Samateh

Wandifa Samateh, Principal Nursing Officer at Bansang Hospital has said that Malaria cases have drastically reduced in Bansang hospital compared to the previous years.

In an interviewed with the Daily Observer at his office in Bansang Hospital, Mr. Samateh said that the factors leading to this malaria case reduction are proper bed net dipping and bed net distribution to pregnant women and children under 5 years. He further asserted that, most of the pregnant mothers visiting the hospitals are given Intermittent Preventive Therapy (IPT) and fansida to pregnant women in order to avoid anemia.

Mr. Samateh added that awareness is also another factor, noting that people are well sensitised on environmental sanitation, water sanitation and waste management. He further spoke of the dangers of malaria disease, describing it as one of the most dangerous diseases that claims the lives of young children. He then confirmed that currently few malaria patients are admitted at the Bansang Hospital.
