Driver gets D1,000 fine

One Ousman Nyang, a driver from Banjul, was yesterday, convicted by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Kanifing Magistrate Court, to a fine of D1,000, or in default, serve six-month imprisonment, for violating the Motor Traffic Amendment Act 1997.

Mr Nyang, who pleaded guilty to the offence, caused an accident while driving a vehicle numbered Alieu 1, without due care and attention February 23, along the Kombo Coastal Road (near the Independence Stadium).

Inspector Secka represent the IGP in the case.

In other development, one Yankuba Darboe of Fagi Kunda, was bailed to a sum of D700, after he intended to defraud one Musa Sanyang, to a sum of D600, with the intention to give him a mobile phone. Police Prosecutor Kinteh stood in for the IGP. The case continues.
