A bench warrant has been issued for the immediate arrest of one Alpha Camara for allegedly selling Gambian textbooks marked ‘Not for Sale’.
The Banjul Magistrates’ Court, presided over by magistrate Kayeodi, on Monday endorsed an application by prosecutor 1783 Keita for Camara’s arrest after his long absence from court to enable the prosecution proceed with the case.
Mr. Camara was said to have sold the textbooks without being authorised to do so.
In endorsing the arrest warrant application, Kayeodi pointed out that since the suspect has been absenting himself from court proceedings, the most ideal thing was to arrest him to enable the matter progress. He therefore ordered that Camara be arrested and produced before the court on 23 April 2007, when the case is expected to resume.
