The Gambia Professional Photographers Society on Thursday presented a cheque for D10,000 (ten thousand), a photo album, calendars and other items to GFA officials in a presentation ceremony held at the Department of State for Youths, Sports & Religious Affairs offices in Banjul.
Speaking at the occasion, Dawda Bayo, Secretary-General of the photographers’ society said the donation was solely aimed at boosting the Gambia U-20 team’s preparation towards the Canada World Cup. "We don't want to be receivers at all times hence the need for us give out when necessary. We are not doing this to bribe the Football Association, but to contribute to the development of our nation”, he said.
Mr. Bayo added that his society will distribute donation boxes to strategic locations across various photo laboratories for photographers and their costumers to continue to support the team on their way to Canada’s record-breaking championships in June.
For his part, Mr. Sheikh Omar Faye, SoS for Youths, Sports & Religious Affairs expressed gratitude and commended the Gambia Professional Photographers Society for the kind gesture.
He advised the society to always use the tools of compromise, respect and honour in their bid to move the society to higher heights.
The ceremony was attended by Jammeh Bojang, Secretary-General of the Gambia Football Association, Executive members of the society, and Bourie Kolley, a National Assembly member among others. Mr. Sadibou Sanneh, a technical adviser of the society chaired the ceremony.
