Thirty-five National Assembly Members and five staff of the Assembly, on Monday, April 2, stormed President Jammeh Joint Officers’ Mess at Kotu to grace the second edition of the weekly raffle draw of the “Vote Your Darling U-20 Player Initiative”-thanks to Hon Speaker Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay, who bought 40 tickets as part of their contribution to Canada 2007 campaign.
“Monday’s mouth-watering draw saw a significant improvement in attendance, and this would have not happened without the generous help of the Honourable Speaker of the National Assembly, Fatoumata Jahumpa-Ceesay, who did not hesitate to mobilise her colleagues at the Assembly to come and add more icing to the cake. If other Departments can emulate such a timely and worthy move, then this initiative will be a resounding success,” a member of the fund-raising initiative told Observer Sports.
Just like the maiden edition of the raffle draw, the recent draw also saw numerous winners, including the National Assembly Member for Banjul Central, Mr Abdoulie Saine. One Lt Col Chune, a WALO delegate also won DVD players after his seat number was picked out during the raffle draw of seat numbers. The third winner on Monday was Jojo Mbye who joyously walked away with an electric kettle.
Three winners were also announced from the fans that had either called or sent SMS to choose their darling player in the past week. The first winner was an Africell subscriber (7787179), while Gamcel subscriber (9848390) won the second prize. A Jamano subscriber (8901250) won the third prize.
