Alleged Armed Robbers Remanded

Six alleged armed robbers were mid last week denied court bail and remanded in custody at the state central prison in Banjul, pending the opening of their case for a full trial tomorrow.

Soriba Conteh, Amadou Camara, Cherno Jallow, Mambury Gaye, Abdoulie Jobe and Malick Sarr have been charged with three counts of conspiracy, assault and stealing.

According to the particulars of the offences, the six men, on or about 24 March 2007, conspired, stabbed and robbed one Muhammed Samba of D41,800 as well as his Gamcel and Africell cards. The incident reportedly happened in Kololi.

They are expected to reappear before magistrate Amina Saho-Ceesay of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

He then thanked the security task force for their breakthrough in rounding up the men and urged them to keep up the momentum.
