Late Speaker’s body to be laid in State

The body of the late Blinda Georgette Bidwell, former Speaker of the National Assembly, who passed away last Saturday, April 28, will be laid in state tomorrow at the National Assembly chambers in Banjul.


The state funeral will accord members of the National Assembly and the former members to pay their last respect to the Late Mrs. Bidwell.


Cabinet members, senior government officials, religious leaders, relatives and friends are expected to attend the ceremony.


From the National Assembly, the body of the late Speaker will be taken to a requiem mass before burial on Friday 4th May 2007 at the Holy Family Catholic Church (Coastal Highway) at 4:30 pm, before being finally laid to rest at the Old Jeshwang Christian Cemetery.
