The BMW car, which was stolen in Norway but impounded in The Gambia by the Interpol, would now be returned to Europe if a recent court order is anything to go by.
The Banjul Magistrates’ Court lately issued a court order that the vehicle is returned to its rightful owner in Norway through the Norwegian police.
In his submission, Chief Superintendent of Police Burama Dibba, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, applied under Section 37(1) of the Gambia Police Force Act, for the return of the vehicle to its country of origin so it could be handed over to its rightful owner.
CSP Dibba explained that the application was in view of accommodating a request made by the Interpol for the vehicle’s return to its owner.
Magistrate B.Y. Camara, having heard the contents of the prosecution’s application, ordered that the vehicle be given back to its owner in Norway and through the Norwegian police without much delay.
