ALBS holds Speech Day

Albion Lower Basic School in Banjul recently held it Speech and Prize- Giving ceremony at the school ground in Banjul. The ceremony was attended by officials from the Department of State for Basic and Secondary Education, parents and teachers from various schools.

Speaking at the occasion, Guest Speaker of the occasion, Mr. Fredrick Bowen John, Deputy Managing Director of Great Alliance Insurance Company, said students should also be grateful to the government for their unflinching support towards the eradication of illiteracy in society and the solid injection of capital into man power development as evidenced by its financial support to schools in the form of grants and aids, salaries to teachers, provision of education equipment, among others.

According to him, the purpose of the event is to encourage students to aim high, work hard to win prizes, and to be successful in life.

For her part, Mrs. Elizabeth Betty Chapman, Headmistress of the school, in delivering her report said continuous progress is registered on the students’ academic performance, due to close supervision by  teachers.

In delivering the vote of thanks, head boy of the school, Amadou Wurri Jallow, thanked Great Alliance Insurance Company and other companies for their support and contribution to make the day a success.
