Spanish coach, Jose Martenez, said he is satisfied with the hospitality accorded to him by his host since his arrival in the country to coach the Scorpions.

He revealed that his working relations with the Scorpions and the country’s sports administrators during the short period have been very magnificent.

Coach Martenez made these remarks yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on the Secretary of State for Youth, Sports and Religious Affairs, Mr. Sheikh Omar Faye.

On his future plans for The Gambia, coach Martenez said he plans to go for a nationwide tour in search of good crops, aimed at improving the standards of game in the country.

“I want to travel to up-country in search of good talents. I believe there are people out there who are equally good,” he said.

Martenez, who played professional football in Spain and France before venturing into football coaching, expressed his readiness to work hand-in-glove with all the national teams for the good of the game. He spoke of his plan to join The Gambia U-20 team in Canada this summer where he will join forces with other technicians for the success of the team.

Spanish coach Martenez was hired to take charge of The Gambia Scorpions, after the unceremonious departure of the German Antoine Hey earlier this year.

Martenez made a brilliant start to his tenure when he led the Scorpions to two successful away outings in their 2008 Nations Cup qualifier campaign.
