The French Embassy is pleased to announce that the French Navy Vessel Corvette F790 “Lieutenant de Vaisseau Lavallee” will pay a friendly visit to Banjul from Wednesday the 1st until Saturday the 4th of August, 2007 a press release from the French embassy stated.
Launched in 1980, the ship is placed under the command of Capitaine de Corvette Yonec FIHEY. She has a crew of 8 officers, 61 non commissioned officers and 32 crewmen and sailors.
Her home base is Brest, in Brittany. Her main task is anti submarine warfare, but she participates in other missions as well, such as sea rescue. She has nine sister ships in activity in the French Navy, three in the Argentinean Navy and five in the Turkish Navy.
