Nurses at the Maternity Ward of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) in collaboration with mothers recently joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Breastfeeding Week.
Speaking on the occasion, Head of Maternity Ward of RVTH, Sister Ndey Ceesay, said the event was funded by Nana and was aimed at encouraging mothers on the significance of exclusive breast-feeding as well as to equip them with breast-feeding techniques. The event, she went on, was also to assess the level of understanding of mothers as regards breast-feeding.
As part of the events, prizes such as soap, plastic pans, among others, were awarded to mothers following a question and answer session to wind up the commemoration.
