IFPT to Organise Islamic Conference

The Islamic Foundation for Peace and Tolerance (IFPT), under the leadership of Oustass Alh. Abdoulie Drammeh and the Executive Committee will hold its first Islamic conference at the Corinthia Atlantic Hotel in Banjul at 3pm this Sunday February 3rd.

Speaking in an interview with The Point about the forthcoming event, Oustass Alh. Abdoulie Drammeh said the chief guest speaker at the occasion will be Alhajie Baboucarr Touray of Darra Rilwan in Central Badibu. He will speak at the conference on the life of Alh. Sering Huleh Touray in Islam.

The second guest speaker will be Dr. Omar Jah (JR) of the University of The Gambia. He will give a lecture on the Islamic way of life in our present economic environment.

Oustass Alh Abdoulie Drammeh stated that the IFPT is a non-profit organisation founded in 2006 and is dedicated to the service of humanity by focusing on the promotion of peace and learning as the basis for human relationships.

He said the aims and objectives of the foundation are to achieve greater understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims. He added that there is also a strong emphasis on creating awareness of the different roles and responsibilities of women and young people.

In conclusion he told The Point that the foundation will provide assistance to the needy and the vulnerable. The Secretary of State for Religious Affairs is expected to deliver a speech at the event.
