A five-judge panel at the Supreme Court yesterday adjourned the appeal suit filed by a veteran politician Omar Jallow, alias OJ, to its next session.
The court entered this ruling, after the plaintiff’s Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, informed the judges of his inability to get in touched with his client.
Darboe told the court that he was not able to get any word from his client and therefore, cannot say whether OJ would withdraw the suit or not.
It could be recalled that OJ and Hamat Bah were arrested in 2006 and charged with sedition.
However, the charges were dropped by the state after the former Nigerian head of state, Olusegun Obasanjo and then African Union (AU) chairman brokered a reconciliatory meeting that brought together leaders of various political divides to reconcile their differences.
However, the two opposition leaders decided to file a suit against the state which was thrown out by the Gambia Court of Appeal before it eventually landed at the Supreme Court.
However, Hamat Bah’s suit was struck out last week after the panel was informed of Mr Bah’s intention to withdraw the suit.
