A driver with the United Nation Systems in The Gambia and two others were recently convicted and sentenced to various jail terms.

Amadou Wurry Barry, Pa Njie and Lamin Keita were lately sentenced by the Banjul Magistrates’ Court to pay court fines ranging from D3000 to D5000.

The trio had pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy to defraud, purchasing falsified bank notes and being found in possession of counterfeited banknotes.

They were found in possession of $700, 500 Euros and CFA 50.

Meanwhile, Amadou Wurry and Pa Njie will go jail for six months if they default in paying a court fine of D3000 whilst Lamin Keita will spend nine months in jail if he fails to pay a fine of D5000.
