Armed robbers recently stormed a shop belonging to one Muhammed Hydara, a Mauritanian businessman in Kaur Wharf Town in Lower Saloum District CRR north.
According to the victim, the armed robbers broke into Mr Hydara’s shop and made away with a huge, yet unquantified amount of money. Mr Hydara pointed out that his two watchmen were tied up against a pole, their mouths gagged.
The Governor, Alh. Ganyie Touray, and Police Commissioner Modou Jobarteh, visited the scene. Governor Touray expressed empathy with the victim and urged him to exercise patience as the matter is under investigation. He called on the community to cooperate fully with the security personnel in order to carry out their duties. He stressed the need for the community to assist the police in their duties, based on the concept of community policing.
On the movement of aliens, he urged chiefs and alkalolus to monitor the movement of aliens and make sure that they have proper documents to stay in the country, advising them to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station. “This is necessary for national security reasons and maintenance of peace and stability,” he added.
