The Point can reveal that the 39th World Schoolchildren’s Art Exhibition is scheduled to take place from September 6th – 25th 2008 in Taipei, Taiwan. The annual event is been organised by the Association for Education Through Art Republic of China and the Association of Formative Art Education for the Republic of China. The organisers are once again calling for entries from artists in The Gambia.
According to a media release from the Taiwanese Embassy in Banjul, the annual exhibition aims, among other things, to promote mutual understanding and friendship among the young generation of the world through the exchange of children’s art. The artwork involved includes oil painting, water colours, wood cut prints, pencil sketches, crayon drawing, pastels, collage and graphic design. It went further to add that the size of the artistic work should be 55cmx40cm. They must be accompanied by the full address of the child who must be between the ages of 6 and 15. The closing date for the submission of entries is April 15th 2008.Certificates and medals will be awarded to the winning artists. It will be recalled that last year two students from Jeshwang Lower Basic School won the competition and also received cash prizes from Ambassador Chang.
