The Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan, his Excellency Dr. Patrick Chang, last Friday donated over 220,000 dollars to the Department of State for Health. The donation aims to stamp out malaria in The Gambia.
In presenting the money on behalf of his government Ambassador Chang called on other countries in the sub-region to emulate The Gambia’s positive approach to fighting the disease. He stressed his country’s willingness to share experience with The Gambia in the fight against malaria.
For his part, Secretary of State Dr. Malick Njie commended Taiwan for the timely intervention. He also hailed Gambia’s determination to fight malaria as the best in the sub-region.
The ceremony was held in Banjul and was chaired by Mr. Sulayman Samba a Permanent Secretary at the Department of State for Health.
