Friday, March 21, 2008
The trial of the senior civil servants formerly serving at the Department of State for Foreign Affairs resumed yesterday before Magistrate Mboto of the Banjul Magistrates Court.
When the case was called, the defence team led by Awa Ceesay-Sabally informed the court that they had filed a notice requesting the court to order the prosecution to provide the defence with all the necessary documents pertaining to the case to enable them prepare their defence. The said application by the defence was granted and the court ordered the prosecution to provide all necessary documents.

It could be recalled that the accused persons, Bai Ousman Secka and Mahammadou Batata S. Juwara have been standing trial on six counts, which include “conspiring to commit a felony, making false documents, uttering false documents and abuse of office.”

The case was at length adjourned to 7th April 2008.
