The ferries are dirty and we expect them to be clean at all times as cleaning the ferries are the simplest task on board all ferry operational. Why the ferries are dirty?
I went down to interview a lady I saw picking only the plastics off the deck and throwing them into sea and I try to see the sense in what she was doing but all I manage to see was senselessness as she even refuse to answer my questions. The other day as soon as the ferry anchored I saw four youths all male in their prime being ask by another youth in the same category to pick the litter on board the ferry. As I watch it looks they were playing a hide and seek game with their assumed supervisor. Too bad and I hope it is brought to a stop.
The way forward
I will advise GPA to get a team and get them uniformed to distinguish them from the crowd. In saying that, they should be staffed as proper GPA staff and they can take a lesson from Social Security and Housing Finnace Corporation (SSHFC) in the manner if they are in any illusion as to how to run their cleaning section and trust me those lessons will be very valuable as what the SSHFC can do GPA can. But the issue may be are they willing or are they bordered?
Alternatively, they can outsource the cleaning aspects of the ferries to a third party cleaning company where by they will save money and the ferries will be very clean and they will avoid all legal wrangling on legal and employment contracts that are paramount but most institutions choose to ignore with impunity. There many hungry families and so many desolated people who are denied justice in their work places and they either do not know the right doors to bang or frustrated by Managing Directors who are all elements of time and they will all fade away denying poor families of compensation and genuine money. Outsource the cleaning if that is the best way to get our ferries clean. Thank you once again!!
