Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh has taken over the well known Babylon case following the transfer of Magistrate Edrisa Mbaye to Banjul Magistrate court.
At last Tuesday’s sitting, the state announced that they were applying for the substitution of the charge sheet and their desire to drop charges against 40 of the accused persons. The presiding magistrate, Jammeh, granted the application but warned that he was going to adjourn the case to allow the defense counsel to familiarise itself with the new charges.
The magistrate added that all the 40 people need to be present on the next adjourned date, which is 17 October, and he will officially discharge them and continue with the remaining 55 accused.
It can be recalled that initially, the state arrested 95 people after the Babylon saga and detained them at the Mile 2 Central Prison for a whole week.
