The Gamworks on Thursday handed a newly renovated maternity ward at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) Banjul back to the hospital's management after the successful renovation of the ward.

Baboucarr Ngum, PRO of the RVTH who received the staff of Gamworks on behalf of Dr Tamsir Mbowe, director general of the Presidential Medical Treatment Program and chief medical director of the RVTH, acknowledged the good work done on the maternity ward. He thanked Gamworks for their ability to turn the old maternity ward into a modern maternity ward "where mothers can deliver, nurse and take care of their babies safely."

He recalled that the condition of the maternity ward in the past was very unpleasant but now it has become a standard maternity ward. Baboucarr Ngum listed such new facilities in the ward as an air conditioning unit, a set of fans, electricity, water system and many other gadgets.

According to James Gomez of Gamworks - who took the congregation around the newly renovated maternity ward - revealed that the renovation cost no less than D2.8m. He said the project took four months to complete.

James Gomez added that the contractor has used good materials of high quality. He therefore advised everyone to make use of the facilities wisely.
