Chen Shui Bien Horticultural Women Garden in Banjulinding yesterday donated D20,000 (Twenty thousand Dalasis) to Operation Canada Campaign at a presentation  ceremony held in the office of SoS for Youth, Sports & Religious Affairs, Mr. Sheikh Omar Faye, in Banjul.

Yesterday’s donation came barely a week after the Officers’ Wife Association of the Gambia Armed Forces also donated the same amount.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Modou Lamin Jarju, commonly known as Rongo, who coordinated the donation, said the organisation is dominated by women and they have been working very hard just to contribute to the campaign, which according to him is a national issue that should be given national attention.

For her part, Maimuna Badjie, Vice President of the organisation said they would have loved to give more than what they have given. Even though farming is not an easy task, it is moral obligation for us to contribute to socio-economic development of the nation,” she said.

In his reaction, SoS Shiekh Omar Faye, commended the organisation for leaving their all day work in order to play their part as true citizens of the nation.

He said the amount is undoubtedly very significant as far as Operation Canada Campaign is concerned.
In a similar gesture, The Officers’ Wife Association of the Gambia Armed Forces donated D20, 000 (twenty thousand Dalasis) to the campaign as part of their contribution. The association was led by Mrs. Sira Sanyang-Tamba, the wife of the Chief of Defense Staff and First Vice President of the Gambia Football Association, Brigadier General Lang Tombong Tamba.
