Modou Jaw, a 27-year-old resident of Bansang, in Central River Region established an FM Radio Station.

The station can be accessed 20kms away from its base in Bansang.

In an interview with Daily Observer at his studio, Jaw said his idea of creating such a transmitting system is a natural gift that came as a result of his own research as a radio and television mechanic during his video club operations in Brikama-ba, CRR South, about 35km away from Bansang.  According to him, he did not undergo any training to acquire this knowledge, noting that during his operation as a video club operator in Brikama-ba, he used to maintenance his television and radio until he was able to understand the input and output of the machines.  He added that since then, he has been trying to maintenance televisions, videos and radios up to the time he was able to put in the input and output devices on the transformer that was able to tune a FM Stereo at a distance of 20km away.

Mr Jaw however noted that, if he gets support from the government or NGO or even individuals there is a tendency that the whole of CRR and even beyond can tune to “Jaamano” station at 95.6 FM.

According to Agi Bassy Boye, the “Jaamano” Radio Station has really help the people of Bansang and its surrounding, noting that they can now tune to FM Station and listen to music of all categories, more so entertainment.  “We even sent out request through the station as he allocated a special air time for that. He do the advertisement for us”, he said. Mr Modou Jaw can be reached on (220) 7649295.
