Monday, February 26, 2007
Justice Akomaye Agim, Presiding Judge, at the ongoing Court Martial taking place at the Yundum Military Barracks, has told the 4th and the 8th accused persons in the March 21st foiled coup, Second Lieutenant Pharing Sanyany and Corporal Samba Bah to either call in their counsel, Lamin Mboge for legal representation or they represent themselves.

Justice Agim made these remarks yesterday following the concurrent absentism of Lawyer Mboge, the counsel for the two.

He said that since the state has closed its case, now it is left with the defence to open theirs. He therefore called on relatives of the said accused persons to call Lawyer Mboge and inform him to come to the court on Friday February 23, for legal representation of his clients, seek another counsel or the defendants would have to represent themselves.

Justice Agim urged Lieutenant Colley, Armed Officer, responsible for the security of the coup plotters at the Mile 2 Central Prison, to allow their wives and relatives of the accused person’s access in order to resolve their legal representation issue. Lieutenant Colley consented to the judge’s instruction. The case resumes today Friday.
