Basse is the host of the 21st edition of Safra, a sub-regional event that features 6 countries from the Zone II.
The week- long annual event which kick off on Monday will be filled with series of sporting activities; cultural demonstrations and symposium. This year’s event is expected to attract over 1,300 delegates drawn from participating countries namely; Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Mauritania, Mali, and The Gambia which has always been represented by Basse.
Safra is a sub-regional programme at grassroots level between major towns sharing borders in the Zone II countries, and which came into being in the 1980s.
Basse successfully hosted the event in 1997.
