Beatrice Allen, first Vice President of The Gambia National Olympic Committee, has called on national sporting Association to include Female sub-committees in their executive’s in order to promote participation by more women in sports.
She said, “women are hardly seen in sporting activities and one finds it very hard to reach them when the need arises”
Beatrice Allen, who doubles as member of the International Olympic Committee Women and Sports Commission, made these remarks at the GNOC ordinary Session held recently.
She said women are under represented in terms of sporting activities but the formation of such sub-committees will enhance their participation and bring more promotion in the field of sports.
She urged national sporting associations to identify female focal persons and forward their names to the GNOC who would serve as focal persons for activities concerning women in sports.
