International ECD Conference for Parents held

The International Early Childhood Development Conference for Parents in The Gambia and abroad was on Saturday June 16, 2007, held at the SBEC International School in Bijilo.

The event formed part of the activities marking the Day of the African Child, tagged “Shaping World Changers in The Gambia”.

In her welcoming remarks, Anna Mbenga Cham, the PTA Chairperson of SBEC International School said, the theme of the conference calls for the active participation of all teachers, parents, educators, administrators and NGO’s in catering for the needs and welfare of our beloved children.

In her keynote address, Mrs. Isatou Ndow, Head of School of Education at The Gambia College, said: “In as much as children are gifts of God, elders of tomorrow and changers of the world,  they need to be cared for, nurtured and brought up like responsible individuals”.

She challenged parents and educators to take the lead in the caring and upbringing of children for a better life.

The conference was also attended by delegates from the USA, led by Aunty Neneh Galleh.
