Bijilo Lower Basic School (BLBS), on Wednesday, received school items and sporting materials from Clough Hall Technology School (CHTS) in UK, at a presentation ceremony held at the school grounds.

The donated items included footballs, handballs, tennisballs, football gears, and a host of other materials. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr Kebba  Fatty, headmaster of the school, welcomed the guests in the school. He noted that this is not the first time the school has received such a gesture from Clough Hall Technology School. He said that they are here this time round to donate this valuable items to the children, which will be very useful for their education.

According to him, their gesture is quite fruitful and they are really complimenting governmental effort. He assured them that the items will be put to good use.

For his part, Mr Ousainou Joof, country representative, Friends of The Gambia Association, said that all the items were donated from money raised by the students and their teachers in the UK.

“This goes to show how great education is, being children in school, they want to give the same opportunity to you people as they are enjoying in UK,” he told his students.

For her part, Ms Sharon Jones, a teacher from Clough Hall Technology School, expressed happiness at having a link with the school. She advised the students to take their education seriously, so as to have good jobs and a good future.

“We assure you that this will not be the last, we will continue to help the school in the near future and we hope you will make good use of these items,” she concluded.
