Inspector Lamin King Colley, the President of the Brikama Youth & Sports Association, who also doubles as the Chairperson of Regional Sports Committee of Western Region has vehemently lambasted the critics of national football governing body, for what he called a ‘flimsy comments’ towards the GFA for the failure of some of our national teams.
Inspector Colley said: “Whenever our national teams win, we all go into ecstasies and claim the credit, but whenever we loss our matches people will start to point fingers at the Gambia Football Association when they should not be held responsible.” According to Inspector Colley, the national teams are not individual’s assets but belong to the whole nation.
He continued that: “The national teams do not belong to Seedy Kinteh or Col Tamba but the whole nation. Against this background, it should be the utmost duty of every patriotic Gambian to contribute to their success instead of sitting on their laurels to watch the situation.
The Brikama Sports Association President said he will not blow his own trumphet, noting that his association has recently given D12, 500 to the four national teams as a token of appreciation to the teams during their respective friendly matches in Brikama.
He finally added: “To cater for four national teams simultaneously is not an easy task for only GFA, but the contributions of the general public will go a long way towards easing the situation.”
