Residents of Tallinding, Buffer Zone and Farro Konno, have bitterly complainied over the shape of the Tallinding drainage system constructed by the CSE (Compagnie Sahelienne d’Entreprise). According to the residents, the drainage which started from the Serrekunda-Brikama Highway has brought a lot of discomfort to the area as they are now expiriencing flood and dirt in their homes.
Speaking to the Daily Observer, Mr Hamadi Bah, a resident of Tallinding ‘Farro Konno’ said the drainage system should be through to the river. But the contractors left it open behind the Buffer Zone this is causing water to flood and the streets of Tallinding.
According to him, this have greatly affected the people in the area as it has also caused erosion on the streets unabling cars to pass.
“The heavy flood which occured during the rainy season had caused some fences to fall down even the NAWEC pole opposite my compound is not left out. The matter was reported to the KMC but no action had been taken yet, ” he said.
He therefore appealed to the government to bail them from what he described as menace on his people.
However, the Daily Observer has also visited CSE Head Office in Kanifing Industrial Area in order to get the company’s version of the story. But this reporter was informed that their boss, Abdul Bah was not in office because of sickness.
Meanwhile preserving his anonymity, an insider working for CSE has indicated that their contract with the government ended where the problem raised by the residents. And he then referred this reporter to the Department of Works and Infrastructure for further information about the construction of the water drainage system in Talinding and its environs
