At least forty students were recently trained on child protection during a weeklong workshop held at the college campus in Brikama.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Madame Ndow, Head of the School of Education and Agriculture, said the training was meant to enhance the capacities of participants on child protection issues. She urged the participants to take the training seriously and to make the best use of the knowledge acquired during the week.

She described child protection as necessary and very important.

Mr Lamin Daffeh for his part said the protection of children against violence, abuse and exploitation such as protecting them from harmful traditional practices is essential.

Other speakers on the occasion included Mr Sulayman Sumbundu, a lecturer at the College.
