Mr. Abdou F.M. Badgie, the Governor of Western Region, yesterday inaugurated the newly constituted Interim Management Committee of Brikama Area Council at the BAC office in Brikama.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Abdou Badjie who doubles as the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, said that the presence of the new members of the committee is an indication of their commitment, dedication and certainty that they will deliver as expected.

He said: “I would hasten to tell you that H.E, Dr. Alh. Yayah A.J.J Jammeh has selected you to be members of the BAC Interim Management Committee.” He revealed that the president had been given the executive power to oversee all municipalities /councils in the country prior to the Local Government elections. He reasoned that the president could not be everywhere, hence the need to delegate certain responsibilities to the committee to enable them deliver the required services.

He further expressed his believe that the primary responsibility for the promotion and maintenance of high standards of participation lies in the commitment of their people. He however conceded that effective services could not be delivered if the resources are not there. Hon. Badjie called on all and sundry to pay their rates and taxes so as to enable them serve better.

He said BAC was grateful that SOS Sambou.

He further told the people of Brikama Area Council that their active participation would enable them to address their needs and learn strategies to achieve their goals. “My goal as Chairman is to guide all of you to achieve success in providing meaningful services to our people. Success as an Interim Management Committee is the total involvement of everybody.

Governor Badjie then introduced the others members of the committee. The committee includes Landing Sanyang, Henry Jammeh, Mrs. Aja Ndey Jatta, Alhaji Babou Sarr, Yuba Jarju, Mrs. Nato Camara, Yayah Tamba, Demba Kujabi, Ebrima Beyai, Karamo Bojang, Lamin Waa Juwara and Governor Badjie himself.

Other speakers included Momodou Jallow, CEO of BAC, Ousman Gaye, outgoing Chairman, and Henry Jammeh, a member of the interim Management Committee.
