Nyodema Yiriwa Kafoo (NYK), a charitable organisation in Brikama Western Region, in collaboration with Youths in Need –a charitable organisation based in the UK- last Friday donated learning materials and office equipment worth over 25,000 Dalasis to a number of beneficiaries. These included Gambia’s immigration Department Regional Education Office, Siffoe Senior Secondary, Penyem Upper Basic and Jalambang Nursery School in Brikama.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, held in the organisations office in Brikama, Chairman of NYK Mr Moudou Lamin Saidykhan, spoke of his organisations relentless support towards meeting the aims and objectives of the community and the nation in general.

According to Mr Saidykhan, the donated items, though small, will go a long way towards helping the beneficiaries in their day-to-day work. He also commended the Gunjur Project for their continued support to the organization.
For his part Mr Modou Lamin Manjang, secretary to the Kaffo, said the ultimate aim of NYK is to compliment the Governments efforts in providing affordable and quality education to all Gambians.

“Though it is small we believe it will go a long way in helping your respective offices” Mr Manjang told those gathered at the ceremony adding that as far as their aims are concerned the sky’s the limit.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries Mr Famara Kujabi, of the Regional Education Office Region 2, commended the association for engaging in what he described as a noble gesture. This shows, he said, that the association is following a nation building agenda. In conclusion Mr Kujabi said. “Nation building is a collective responsibility and not about building houses. It involves raising the capacity of individuals to enable them to take care of themselves”
