Bafuloto Nusery School inaugurated

Abdou FM Badjie, the Governor of Western Region, on Sunday presided over the inauguration of a new nursery building at Bafuloto Village in Kombo Central.

The building was sponsored by The Gambian Schools Project, a charity organisation from the UK, which was sponsored at a tune of D500, 000 (Five hundred thousand dalasis).

In a brief speech Governor Badjie urged parents to send their children to school, especially girls. He also urged them to collaborate with the teachers for the good upbringing of their children and thanked The Gambian School Project for complimenting government efforts in the education sector.

Deputising for the Chairman of the Brikama Area Council, Sering Modou Joof, Public Relations Officer of the council, said investing in children’s education is a noble initiative which is appreciated by his council. He then thanked the sponsors of the project and assured them that Brikama will collaborate with them to further develop the school.

For his part, the representative of The Gambia School Project in the country, Ousainou Alex Ngum, expressed his happiness to be associated with the project as the provision of a good housing for the villages nursery school was a great concern to the villagers.

According to him, the country cannot fully develop without a well educated citizenry. Mrs. Awa Sanneh, Headmistress of Kabafita Kindergarten School, stressed the need for proper maintenance of the structure for longevity.

Other speakers at the ceremony included, John Mason of The Gambia School Project, UK, Sampierre Mendy, Chairman of the Parent Teachers Association and the Alkalo of the village, Alhaji Manku Saidy. All expressed happiness over the successful implementation of the project.
