Alleged Drug Trafficker to Know His Fate

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

The Brikama Magistrates’ Court in Western Region will, in mid-February, deliver its judgement in the trial of one Saidou Bah on drug trafficking allegations.

The Western Region-based lower court will determine the outcome of the drug trial after it ran out of patience with Saidou on his failure to produce a witness having been given enough space to do so.

He had been tried for being allegedly found in possession of 60kg of suspected Indian hemp but since the closure of the prosecution’s case, Saidou could not bring any witness to testify on his behalf. Therefore, according to magistrate Edrisa Mbai, the court would proceed in delivering its verdict in the trial as the accused was given the opportunity to explore all the legal possibilities to secure his exoneration.

Judgement will be delivered February 14.
