Muhammad Bah, a teacher at Kerewan Upper Basic School, who was charged for impregnating his 16-year old student, has admitted the charge preferred against him.

Mr Bah, who appeared before Magistrate EF M’Bai of the Brikama Magistrates Court yesterday, confessed that he detected the young girls pregnancy, which prompted him to take her to a hospital.

In his testimony before Magistrate EF M’Bai, Mr Bah said the first day he had carnal knowledge of the young girl she had been coming from the Banjulinding Health Centre.

He confessed that when the young girl was coming from the hospital, he (the teacher) called her and took her to one of his friend’s computer training centre. According to him, while inside one of the computer rooms with the girl, he told the young girl to go and relax on the bed. According to the teacher, some minutes later, he joined the young girl inside and sat beside her.

“As we were so close to each other, we could not control our emotions and I had carnal knowledge of the young girl for the first time,” he said.

Mr Bah added that the second day he had sex with his student was during a sports day at their school.

Mr Bah asserted that by the end of February, he noticed some changes in the young girl and when he asked her what the matter was, the young girl replied that “nothing was wrong.”

Mr Bah said some weeks later, the young girl started vomiting and feeling dizzy. “From there, it become apparent to me that she was pregnant,” Bah said.

He concluded that when he took the young girl to the hospital, the results revealed that she was two-month pregnant.
Senior Magistrate M’Bai then adjourned the case to Tuesday, August 26 for continuation.
